Ceremony includes change of command ceremony for new Commander, Georgia Army National Guard

What: Governor Nathan Deal will participate in a Change of Command ceremony between the outgoing and incoming Adjutants General of Georgia in a large, joint military event. The Governor will also oversee a Change of Command ceremony between Deputy Adjutant General Joe Jarrard and outgoing Commanding General of the Ga. Army Guard, Maj. Gen. Maria Britt.
When: Friday, Sept. 30, 11 a.m. The ceremony will last approximately one hour and will be followed by a reception for Maj. Gen. Nesbitt.
Where: Clay National Guard Center, Marietta, Ga.
Who: Governor Nathan Deal, Major Generals William T. Nesbitt and James B. Butterworth, Gen. Joe Jarrard, and Maj. Gen. Maria Britt. Also, hundreds of Georgia Air and Army National Guardsmen as well as family and invited guests will be in attendance.
Visuals: A large military event with all the ceremony of two general officers changing command. Static displays will include Georgia Air and Army Guard fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft; troop formations representing the Guard; military color guard; and military band. The ceremony will take place in a large aircraft hangar open to outdoor static displays of Guard aircraft.
